Psi Equine is a boutique clinical practice providing individual psychotherapy for adults and adolescents. Dr. Sells shapes every session around the client’s unique goals and needs, blending insight-oriented work with techniques from psycho-dynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and equine-assisted therapy.

Sessions are held at a small horse barn in Bethany, CT, offering a peaceful, hands-on environment. Video sessions are available for existing clients when needed. Clients may use these services as their primary psychotherapy, or as a distinctive complement to ongoing treatment. Either way, this work with horses brings a unique and enriching dimension to the therapeutic process.

Most clients are self-pay. The $165 per session fee is in keeping with traditional office sessions, in order to keep this unique and effective work affordable. Self-pay clients receive a detailed ‘superbill’ periodically, which they may submit to their insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

Psi Equine also accepts a limited number of clients with HUSKY insurance. Openings for HUSKY-covered appointments vary.
Group Therapy
Groups of many kinds are invited to experience equine-assisted work with Dr. Sells. Clinicians who already conduct group work or are looking to form a group with existing clients may co-lead sessions with Dr. Sells in the equine-assisted model. Non-clinical groups are also welcome. As with all our services, no riding is involved.
No previous experience with horses is necessary.
Psi Equine does not offer horseback riding. For information about local stables that do, please contact us. We will be happy to refer you.

Horse
Meet & Greets
for Kids
Horses make us feel good. Kids know this. Many children feel an affinity with horses before even meeting one. If this is your child, Dr. Sells offers Meet & Greets! You and your child will learn about safety around horses, how to pet, brush, feed them and more. Involvement with horses teaches children empathy, responsibility, safety and immediate rewards for hard work. This is not a therapeutic service and is not covered by health insurance. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
$50 / hour for one child, $10 each additional child.
Resilience
Management
for Adults
Do we have a moral and ethical responsibility to tend to our resilience, especially when caring for others? It is not a weakness but a strength to acknowledge that times are difficult.
Come get some horse love in a beautiful setting in this guided hour, designed to boost resilience. Rejuvenating but not self-indulgent; tending to our resilience is vital.
Although therapeutic in some aspects, this is not a psychology service and is not covered by health insurance.
$75 / hour for one adult. Group pricing is also available.

Unicorn Visits
If your timing is just right, you may be able to meet Summer Snow, the unicorn. He visits the barn occasionally and only can be seen by True Believers. These lucky few will get a personal Evite, a souvenir, and all the photos they can take.
This is a magical experience and is not covered by health insurance. Pricing is lower than the price suggested by multiple former visitors. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
$190 base price for one child. $10 for each additional child.
